2008 – A Photo Summary

30th Dec 2008 5:00 pm :- I discovered that WordPress has gone bonkers and the whole blogosphere is in chaos. Many blogs including mine and YouthUnite had been suspended. I reset my password and now its obviously working. What an year ending event!!! It did get me paranoid enough to change all passwords and take a back up of my blog. WP is behaving rather weirdly nowadays as Nikhil also experienced.

Here are two very useful posts by Dinu :-

Backup your blogroll

So the year 2008 will end tomorrow. It has been quite an interesting year for me as I retrospected in my last post. Taking Nikhil’s wonderful idea of a photo roundup of 2008, here is my life in past one year in pictures.

T for Tag, R for Retrospection

An alphabet tag is moving around in the blogosphere. A letter is assigned and one has to write about 10 things one loves that begin with that letter. Now Apar assigned me Q, Vishesh allotted B and Willow tagged me with M. You know from now on once I am tagged for a meme, I will put up a header image declaring “TAGGED FOR XYZ MEME” ..on the lines of shouting “don’t touch me” when someone tries to give you a new pinch. Hope you all know the custom of new pinch :)

Few weeks ago, Sulz had asked for help from her readers. She needed topics to blog about and I had suggested that she can write about “Ten good things that you have done in past one year. or maybe ten lessons that you have learned in past one year.” After reading her post I was impressed by my own suggestion and decided to write a post about my lessons. So I have decided to incorporate this tag with a round up of the important events of my life and the lessons I have learned in year 2008.

A to Z Movie Tag Part 1

Lallopallo has tagged me for A to Z movie tag. The tag asks you to list an alphabetical list of your favorite movies, one for each letter of the alphabet. Lallopallo has asked us to write few lines about the movie too. I will try my best. Also I prefer Hollywood more than Bollywood and that too no serious movies for me :)

A - Animation movies, all of them. Love them for their wit, emotions, fantasy and total fun.

Movie Reviews

Movie review in exam time?? Well as some of old readers may be knowing that I am a huge fan of animation movies and I don’t miss watching a single one, no matter what. Moreover all work and no play makes Reema a dull blogger. :)

madagascar-2-posterMadagascar 2 Escape to Africa, the much awaited sequel to the successful animation movie Madagascar released today in India. The movie starts with the story behind an African Lion (Alex) being an entertainer at the New York Central Park Zoo. The story is somewhat similar to the Lion King, the similarities being father of the cub being the leader of the pride and a rival lion wanting to be the leader of the pride. After the flashback, the movie comes back to the present time where Alex and his friends Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo are having the time of their lives at Madagascar.

Not Just Money

I saw this commercial on television recently and liked it a lot. Its ING’s first corporate campaign and the commercial shows one of the aspects of Brand India.

Mere desh me paisa sirf paisa nahi hai (Money is much more than just money in my country)…..Nice song and music. The video is having subtitles too. Have a look.

Mother and Blogging

Dainik Bhaskar, a national Hindi newspaper, carried an article on Blogging. A Bengali Mother who has a daughter of marriageable age read it.

She was intrigued by this blogging business. She asked her daughter about it.

Mother : Do you know what is this thing called blog?

Daughter explained eagerly: Its a place in internet where one writes his/her views on various topics. Somewhat like articles in newspaper. But its interactive.

Cosmetics,Jeans and Indian Culture

So I had taken a break from blogging and was busy studying. But the Vice President of BJP Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi made me come back to express my opinion. He said “kuch hamari behne..mahilayen..lipstick aur powder laga karke aur mombatti le karke aur paschimi sabhyata ke saath waha par aa karke politicians ko gaali de rahi thi. Ye theek waise hi kar rahi hai jo Jammu Kashmir me algaavadi jo hai wo bhi yehi kaam karte hai…blah blah blah”.  Translation – “Some women wearing lipstick and powder have taken to streets in Mumbai and are abusing politicians, spreading dissatisfaction against the democracy. This is what terrorists are doing in Jammu and Kashmir”. You can see him commenting at this link. Sigh! One would expect politicians to be refined, educated, progressive and most importantly to have good PR skills or at least a PR officer. Though BJP has distanced itself saying “These are Naqvi’s personal views and the party had nothing to do with it”; he has found support in RSS now. On NDTV, Sharmila Tagore requested to women that they should ignore Naqvi’s comment and that he is a nobody. By making this an issue we would be giving him way too much importance. I beg to differ because there are some things which I just have to express. And by keeping quiet we let these politicians get away with such so called gaffes.
