Trip to Kolkata-2

# Day 3, 15th August 2009:- A family function was the reason I had gone to Kolkata. It was my maternal uncle’s first death anniversary and it happened to be on 15th August. The house was full of relatives both near and distant ones. I and my mom spent the whole afternoon chatting with some of them. In the evening there was a remembrance gathering which included neighbors also. But it seemed most of the people had just come to chat. While songs were being sung, people at back just kept talking. I stopped myself from standing up and shouting “Stop this facade.” There was just lot of hypocrisy around and I would not like to dwell on that. Moving on to the next day;

Real or Fake Essay?

Trip to Kolkata-1

The Bong girl (i.e. me) visited her matribhoomi (as per my relatives. Sigh! that is India for you. Our states are our homelands not the country) after 12 years. I was actually looking forward to the trip as I have started liking visiting different places I made Dad promise to take me out roaming in Kolkata atleast one day during our 5 day trip. Otherwise our schedule was just full of meeting friends and relatives. So here is an account of my trip.

# City of Joy :- Why do they call Kolkata the City of Joy? Just because Dominique Lapierre wrote a story based on Kolkata by the same name? Sigh! I am a Bengali and saying that I do not like Kolkata is like committing sacrilege! I may as well commit Hara Kiri. But there I said it. I do not like Kolkata.

Sister and Me

A younger sister is someone to use as a guinea-pig in trying sledges and experimental go-carts. Someone to send on messages to Mum. Blogosphere is a place where various types of personalities meet through their blogs but it is better than social networking sites and  chat rooms. Chat rooms are mostly filled with dumb jerks or perverts or desperate guys with girl ids!!  Social networking websites have their own set of problems like fake profiles, misuse of personal information etc.
