This is a guest post by Nomad (my sister). Since she is on a break, she wrote this in an email to me and asked me to post it on my blog so that people can read her views on an email forward that many of us may have received some time in our inbox. She said :-
Forward this to people, so that eventually the creator of this joke will read my opinion. Or put in on blog.
So here it goes. Tell us your opinion and view point in the comments section!
This is an old one, but have you ever wondered if it is a fake Bad English essay concocted for “comedy”?
A few linguistic analytical points that I had noted about this were:
- If it is a Mahesh Pandey who wrote this, and he has no knowledge of the gender rules in English, he would use She for cow, as in Hindi, gaaye is female, unless one wants to talk about a bull.
- If the writer has enough knowledge to use articles, and the punctuation marks at the right places, most likely it is a person who knows English and is writing a deliberately stupid kind of essay to mock those who do not know English as well, but failing to imitate the exact mistakes such a person would make. We see the example of this in the movie Barah Aana, where the waiter is trying to speak broken English, by making the common mistakes of Indian English but has a good educated accent.
- The writer has a good vocabulary of prepositions in addition to a general vocabulary not generally flaunted by North Indians!
- The writer knows inversion of verb and pronoun to create interrogation! “What can it do” would actually be spoken as “What it can do” by general Indian English speakers.
- There are many other points in this- just read it carefully, it is the work of a person well versed in English. Look at the sentence formation, the syntax, and the long sentences punctuated with commas at all the correct places.
I don’t know, I just find it very very disgusting for someone to create a joke like this. Look how people make fun of it, when it is not even real:

On a lighter note, Amitabh Bachchan gives an example of why English is a funny Language. 😀
Remember the movie Chupke Chupke starring Dharmendra and released in 1975? The one where he makes fun of “shudh Hindi”? The original movie is a Bengali movie ” Chhadmabeshi” starring Uttam Kumar and it was released in 1971.In that the English language was the target.
Here is a scene from the movie with subtitles again depicting that English is a Funny Language!
P.S. Will be posting the second part of my Kolkata trip soon!
It’s a fact that good English speaking people always try to make fun of bad English speaking people by imitating them. They should realize that how it hurts others, mostly the weaker one. No one should misuse their skill set !!!!
yes thats true!
Very nice points , and now I am inclined to believe that this is a work of a person who knows english well !
(though I also believe that sometimes ‘English is a bhery phunny language)
Amitabh Bacchan is hilarious in this scene !!
yes that scene is an absolute riot!
that amitabhi clip is superb 🙂
😀
That does make sense! It does sound like it might have been the work of someone who is well conversant in English.
Chupke Chupke was such a wonderfully hilarious movie!
yes it was!
I agree this person is well versed with the english language. It is amusing!
thanks for ur view
Everyone has a different take on humor this might be his 😀
That Namakhalal clip is one of my fav scene 🙂
I was rolling off with laughter when I first saw the movie!
To make it look blunder you need to master of it. The writer of the script has very well crafted this entire essay. perfect use of words that will make a person believe that the person doesn’t know English at all, is nothing but the work of English PUndit.
Regarding Amitabhs Work, well he had done great justice to character and scene, an now he is greatest actor of all. I guess it says all.
To craft a master piece you need a master.
truly spoken!
Chupke chupke is one of my fav movies! 🙂
and this “joke” is bullshit, no, its cowshit! 😉
nice pun!
Enjoyed the videos 🙂
I can understand what your sister is getting at. Are we to take it in our stride as a funny thing? Maybe…
yes the question is what is good humor?
I had never doubted that the essay was a fake. But the point is to take it like any other forward/joke. laugh once and click ‘delete’. For it was created only for fun. Aren’t most jokes cracked on other peoples’ expenses? whether it is on a sardar or madraasi or complexion or lisp or height or health…?
But yes, The Amitabh clip was definitely a better quality joke!
Good jokes are rare!
Chupke chupke- love that movie! 🙂
me too!
ROFL..
That amitabh clip is legendary and one of my most favourite… i can also almost say the whole thing !!!!
really?? wow!
I always wonder who starts these forwards. I think most of them are highly suspect. That is why I never read forwards!
not even the good ones?
I think it is fake. Sort of a sarcasm.
yes I guess it is.
LOL, I really dont understand whats wrong in such kind of jokes. I mean, thats why they are called jokes ! 😀 😀 😀 😀
I can laugh at anything thats funny as long as it isnt meant to hurt a person directly 😀 😀 😀
and again on a lighter note, never ever recommend my blog or my comments to your sis 😉
🙂 Ok I wont.
That Amithab clip was too good! I don’t think we should make fun of people who don’t know the language well. English has always been an outside language and I will be glad if it did not interfere with the learning of local languages of India. I wanted to say that you have been tagged, but you have already seen it!
Destination Infinity
yes I have seen it and will do it shortly.

nah !Fake !
most of the forwards are fake, to prove my point, once I created a fake forward and circulated around. It was some crap.
It came back to me. 🙂
I don’t forward forwards now 🙂
:O :O Things guys do!
Agreed with your sis Reema. Forwards are mostly fakers 😀 The videos are a nice touch 🙂
