Timing

Shruti read the test report. She was pregnant. Everyone including Sandeep was elated. Time for another party after yesterday’s celebration of one month wedding anniversary!!

Three weeks later, as she lay on a hospital bed and listened to nurses discuss the accident, she was happy inside.

She had to do it. It was not time yet.

  1. Hmm nice.. motherhood is a choice, but she should’ve taken precautions. Accidents happen though, nothing is fool proof.

    And you’re back with a bang after your writer’s block..yayy!! 🙂

  2. Liked the whole idea behind the post; the idea of linking your old post to this 55er at the end 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 I was wondering how it appeared there, and then I realised its not through wordpress 😀 😀 😀

  3. This is a topic I’d rather not comment on. Hate abortions, the people who do it, and the people who take it lightly [even if it’s in a story; just gets my blood boiling] 😦 Sorry for being a killjoy!

Glad to have you back, though 🙂 🙂 Yey!

  4. yes. She was right. when not ready, one shouldn’t force themselves..
A baby, a family is to give and take joy and it shouldn’t be a burden! 🙂

    I loved it! 🙂

  5. I am a late comer. Followed from IHM.

May be things went south in the relationship and what was desirable three weeks ago was not so charming now.

May be it was a way to say I destroyed you… even though it was not a rape or who knows. It reminds me of the scene ifrom Amrita Pritam’s Pinjar where Punno induces a purposive miscarriage.

    Good one.

  6. Good 55er Reema. A bit sad though.

Why the ‘accident ‘ one wonders? Why not a simple spelling out of facts? That I dont want to have a baby right now?
But then one doesn’t always have the choice I suppose. An equal choice to decide.

  7. Good one! Makes me sad to think women have to ‘choose’ this option in secret, as the family will NOT support them anyway. I mean, if she had the freedom to abort the pregnancy with support from her family she would never have to resort to an ‘accident’ right?!

  8. nice one.. thought raising.. but good that she thought of ending it.. good that the child did not met with the same fate as the one did in Pune recently.. killed minutes within birth by the mother herself.

    Good one.
