D and I are going on a trip to visit relatives. Places on the itinerary – Ahmedabad and New Delhi.
Will be visiting both places for the first time. 🙂
Will be staying a long duration [one week] with SIL and her family in Ahmedabad for the first time. 😎
Will be boarding an aeroplane for the first time. Shudder!! 😕
February started with a trip to Pune to celebrate my first wedding anniversary with D. Had thought of posting on that day i.e. 4th Feb but was too busy spending time in the real world 🙂 I made a video on our first wedding anniversary celebration for my readers 🙂 Didn’t have time to associate an audio with it.
Payal loved her Suresh Uncle. He used to give her chocolates and dolls! Yet, somehow she felt scared walking down that dark alley with him to meet some other Uncles.
Suddenly Payal woke up. Its been 5 years. She still dreamed about that alley everyday.
Meera yelled again “Get ready! Your new customer is waiting”
A prestigious school in my city is taking its middle and high school students on an Educational Tour to Europe. For this they are taking around 1 lakh rupees from the parents interested in sending their kids on that tour. And strangely people are giving it to the school administration willingly. I do not understand that why do the students need to go to Europe for learning? What sort of education does the school want to impart by taking them to Europe? Till class 10th all students study History under CBSE board and 80% of it comprises of Indian History. Rest is just World Wars, Dark Ages, Renaissance and Industrial Revolution as far as I recall.
Destination Infinity has tagged me to make a list of my top five favourite Fast Furious and Danceable songs. Among all the bloggers he tagged I think I am the only one who has not done it yet 🙂 So here the songs which make me break into dance. Five is too less. I will do ten songs 😀 I love fast and dance songs!

Recently, I had a discussion on crying with Prateek and he declared that guys who cry are not sensitive but sissy. And he even wrote a blog post “Guys don’t cry” to explain his stand. In his post he has cited 5 reasons why guys should not cry in the form of 5 situations. Like a guy should not cry for love or when someone dies etc etc. Anyway, as I strongly disagree to this conservative/orthodox belief, I decided to express my views and ask readers & visitors their opinions. There is an opinion poll at the end of the post. Do participate!
Three types of tears are generated by the human eye. Basal tears protect the eye and keep it moist. Reflex tears flush out the eye when it becomes irritated. And emotional tears flow in response to sadness, distress, or physical pain.

Music is an integral part of Bengali culture. Almost every Bengali girl in Kolkata learns singing. The older generations (and all the Non-Bengali persons I have come across and who were familiar about Bengali culture) actually expect every Bong girl to know how to sing “Robindro Songeet” but all of us DON’T know!! And then we are looked down upon for being “Probashi” (Out of state residents) and for being contrary to Bengali culture. Anyway that is another long story. Let me quote Wikipedia to explain what is Robindra Songeet.
Rabindra Sangeet also known as Tagore Songs in English, is a form of music composed by Rabindranath Tagore who added a new dimension to the musical concept of India in general and Bengal in specific. The Rabindrasangeet, which deal with varied themes are immensely popular and form a foundation for the Bengali ethos that is comparable to, perhaps even greater than, that which Shakespeare has on the English-speaking world. It is said that his songs are the outcome of 500 years of literary & cultural churning that the Bengali community has gone through.

Kids imbibe a lot from the media and their young impressionable minds are easily influenced by advertisements. I am sure there must be many parents who face the daily challenge of denying their kids’ demands and making them understand that why are they not buying the super cool thing shown on tv. I think nowadays around 90% of ads have kids in them and when a kid watches such a commercial, he/she wants the same thing as the kid on tv. Now what if an advertisement is about a small thing such as an Alpenliebe toffee but knowingly or unknowingly shows an act; which if the kids don’t understand to be wrong, they might imitate even when they are adults. I am talking about the act of feeding animals in zoo by visitors.
In the commercial, Kajol feeds the toffee to a crocodile in zoo and the croc finds it so tasty that it keeps following her around. Here is the commercial –
I saw this commercial on television recently and liked it a lot. Its ING’s first corporate campaign and the commercial shows one of the aspects of Brand India.

29th Oct 2008 – We had plans to go to RK beach early morning to watch the ocean with rising sun. But due to exertion from the Araku trip, we woke up quite late. We had booked the same driver (who was very impressed by my father’s good nature and vice versa) for the last day of our trip. It was almost noon when he arrived with his car. We left for Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Vizag city. The park spreading over an area of 625 acres, exhibits about lots of animals and birds in open surroundings, except the birds of course! We decided to move around in car only. One thing we noticed in Vizag that at every tourist attraction there was a charge of Rs.20 for camera. AP Govt is surely minting money from tourism. There is a special house of nocturnal animals where owls, civets, porcupines, wild cats, loris etc are kept in total darkness with artificial dim light and air conditioned cave sort of place. It was both eerie and scary! We were wondering why they have done that as in natural habitat, these animals experience daylight! I found the answer on internet. Apparently the Hyderabad zoo has a similar section.
