Waiting for Winter

Enjoying beautiful flowers

Long nights, short days

Showing off branded sweaters

Sneezing fits in morning

the_big_sneeze

Leaves and flowers strewn on roads

Counting days to the New Year

Putting quilts in sun so that they are warm later

Sleeping in them at night all cuddled up

gmousesleep_picbook

Eating seasonal vegetables

Swatting bigger blacker mosquitoes

Using lukewarm water in bathroom

Having coffee instead of tea

garfield-coffee

Using moisturizers generously

Bruises and wounds paining more

Celebrating birthday, other holidays and New Year

Cursing job which makes you wake up early

All these together make what winter means to me. Sadly due to climate change, since few years we have been having shorter and relatively warmer winters. Its November but still its quite warm in my town. I hope the Greek goddesses of seasons, the Horai, get their act together soon.

one pic says it needs permission .. 😛

Reema: They were nice, na? I have changed them now. Sigh!

  2. Hey! Winter is my favourite season too! Luckily, we get a pretty long and intense winter in Punjab. Unluckily, I am in kota where winter lasts for about a month and the least temp is 20-25 Celsius

Reema: 😮 I thought it is quite cold in Rajasthan!

  3. oh i just love winters ……..and the day its foggy i just feel like roaming around in the school campus……coats, sweaters…wahwah!! 😛 but you see waking up early winter morning ….its a stupendous task…..and taking a bath.nahhhhhh! 😛

Reema: Taking a bath in winter is really a Herculean task even with hot water!

  4. hey even i used to love delhi winters…after a blazing summers there…winters used to be welcome relief..but here in US its the other way round…i have already started waiting for summers to come back :)…hey again a new look!!! i liked the previous one..may be will soon like this look too!

Reema: Yes it must be chilling there. The new look is more lively, more me!

  5. I love winters ! Basking heat of summer slowly gives way to cooler winter evenings, Delhi embraces a number of changes both culturally and naturally. Most cultural events take place in winters. Chrysanthemums, marigolds and dahlias blossom. Everything is so beautiful.

Reema: Oh yes the flowers that blossom are really wonderful! The roses, the asters all so pretty!

  6. I hate winters ..

I just cant tolerate a slightest cold weather ..

But sometimes I do enjoy it when I am well prepared with 3-4 layers and a woolen sweater ..

By the way, winter is on its way .. It will strike soon !!

Reema:yes I hope so too for all my sweaters sake! Slowly with climate change I might never get a chance to wear them!

  7. Its getting cooler here in Mumbai but I guess our winters are mild. I love winter actually, and yes the Delhi winter! I have spent many years in Delhi and loved the coldness of our winters. Its said that all my woollens are just lying in a box now!

Reema: Yes winters are mild in coastal areas. Everybody is raving about dilli ki sardi 😉 Have to experience it once.

  8. Nice makeover. I like it. 🙂 And don’t talk about winters! I hate it the way my nose starts running every year. Otherwise its fine! 😉
And I was thinking of not telling till the end but I can’t hold it any longer. I have started watching FRIENDS!!
I have finished season 1 and 2 and I don’t have words!! Its mind blowing! Creativity at its best!!!!! I can’t sleep without watching an episode at night! 😀

Reema: Thanks! Yippeeee! at last! I have watched re runs and re re runs of it so many times! Which character do u like most?

  9. Loved the C&H strips. Recently bought a book of Sunday strips collection, having fun reading through it. Winter is already here in this side of the world. We had to brave a sunny day but 40 deg Fahrenheit today.

Reema: Do u want the whole collection in soft copy? I have it. How cold does it get there?

  10. I guess most ppl like winters, but I find them to be quite a nuisance. First off, the extra clothing and shoes are a pain to wear, I end up not dressing properly anyways and freezing myself.

But what I really dont like is the restrictions on being able to go out and exercise. In the summers (which are almost as hot in Austin as they are in Delhi + extremely humid), I can go out after 6-6.30 and still run or play soccer. In January, running is almost impossible and if it rains, it is almost impossible to go out. Even if I do exercise in the winter, I dont feel like I have really pushed my body like I do in summer.

Reema: Welcome to my blog! yes winter is pleasant the way it is in central India. It ceases to be a pleasure when its chilling like in Kashmir or Canada, UK, Russia etc!! Keep visiting

  11. I loved winters only if I could get to laze-in in the rajai for one more extra hour. But darn! now to I don’tuse rajai….yahan thand hi nahin hai…

Having stayed in Gorakhpur, Jaipur & Roorkee I have enjoyed the winters and still miss the fun sitting near the angithee and enjoying groundnuts with green chutney…bliss!!!!

The only thing I hated about winters was “sweaters” they used to make me look fat 🙂

Nostalgic post as ever. You always manage to make take a trip down the memory lane 🙂

Reema: I love wearing sweaters! No need to worry for dupatta or ironed dresses! 😀 Thanks!

  12. Everyone everywhere is feeling (or trying to feel) Nostalgic 😀
I am getting bored of this word now 😛
Nice cartoons 😀 but you are better 😛

    @Nita
You have winter in Mumbai??? 😀

    Reema: Achhaaaaaaa! 👿

  13. Its almost winter here! Well, almost!! Afternoons are still hot but the mornings are cold and i like that typical smell of winter!! Ahhhhhh.. heaven 🙂

And like Calvin, My daughter would also be thinking that mothers should be a bit more gullible to be fun with!! 😉

Reema: I guess every child does! I did too!

  14. Ah!!! It’s already a winter at night in B’lore… Days are somewhat warm but nights are chilling.. hope ur city gets it too soon… nothing like jaade ki chai with garam pakode while being wrapped under a rajai… ah!!!

Reema: Ahhh! pure bliss that is!

  15. I love winters too!

There’s just something about sitting wrapped in a blanket and sipping hot coffee that’s divine. And moreover, I was born bang in the middle of winter so got to like it for that reason too. I remember how much fun fog used to be.

Reema: Hey when is your birthday? Fog was fun and also blowing foggy breath in cold winter air.

  16. Nice theme… I kinda like it… 😀
Waiting for winter you are! I am waiting for sanity! 😀

Reema: Thanks! Hope u gain sanity soon for blogosphere’s sake!

  17. 🙂 encryption on…
    Cold nose tips
    getting lost under quilts
    encryption off…
    fog
foggy breaths on the way to school
    picnics
    🙂

    Reema: Hehehe! 😀

  18. Winter? is that something to eat? 😀 I have forgotten what winter would be like ever since I moved to chennai. But I never missed them. I like when it is hot and sultry 😀

The last Calvin strip was damn funny!

Reema: 😮 really??? U like it hot and all sweat? I hate Calcutta for the same reason.

  19. Btw, the warmer winters are probably more a result of the urban heat island than climate change. It takes decades not years for climate change to be noticeable. It can also actually end up making winters more severe.

Reema: Urban heat island is a reason but that happens in metropolitan areas. My hometown is a small town with lots of greenery. Also Climate change is very much real and people are experiencing it now. Climate has already started changing, not that it is going to happen.

  20. New template… First, I thought, I visited Arvind’s or Vishesh’s blog…

Its always cold here.. Even Summer is chill 😀 ..nd I love sipping steaming coffee..

Reema: Hope u liked the new template. Always cold? where do you live?

  21. WHOA! For a moment I actually thought I was on arvind’s blog. 🙂 Nice theme and sidebar. 🙂 I guess I missed a good lot of stuff, huh?

Reema: Thanks!! Oh I updated recently.
